WST 2015 College Athletics Recap
Congratulations to all WST Collegiate Fall Athletes on their seasons. Here is a recap of some of our athletes’ notable achievements this fall:
NCAA Men’s Division I
Mike Kapitula (M) and the Michigan Men’s Soccer team finished the season with an 8-6-4 record. Mike played in 14 games, scoring 2 goals and had 3 assists in his second season with the Wolverines.
Tommy Griffin (M) and the Cornell Men’s Soccer team finished the season with a 4-12-1 record. In his second season with the team, Tommy started all 17 games; his sole goal of the season came against Princeton as he scored in the 84th minute to break a 1-1 tie.
Tyler Bell (F) and the Holy Cross Crusaders Men’s Soccer Team finished the season with a 6-8-4 record. In his freshman season, Tyler played in 6 games.
NCAA Men’s Division III
Tom Bull (GK) and the NCAA National Champion, Amherst College finished their championship season 18-1-2. In his final season, Tom was named NSCAA Third-Team All-American and the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Defensive Player. He was also named First-Team All-NESCAC and became the NCAA Division III men’s soccer career leader in shutouts (50). Tom had 16 shutouts this season with a goals-against average of 0.23 (5 goals allowed) and a .944 save percentage.
Tommy Haskel (M) in his final season with Amherst College played in 15 games with 7 starts. Tommy scored 1 goal this season for the DIII National Champions.
Conor Pellas (F) and the Franklin & Marshall Men’s Soccer team finished the season with a 17-4-0 record. The Diplomats earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they reached the Sweet 16 for the third straight season. For the first time in school history, Franklin & Marshall was ranked 1st in the country in October. Conor played in 21 games, scoring 2 goals and had 3 assists in his junior season with the Diplomats.
Connor Schiable (D) and the Tufts University Men’s Soccer team finished the season with an 11-5-3 record. The Jumbos earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament, for the 3rd time in four seasons. Connor finished his senior season, starting in all 18 games for the Jumbos.
Kevin Molnar (F/D) and the Washington & Lee Men’s Soccer team finished the season with a 16-4-2 record. The Generals earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the ODAC Championship. Kevin started in 21 of the 22 games, scoring 1 goal and had 1 assist in his sophomore season.
NCAA Women’s Division I
Drew Topor (D) and the Georgetown Women’s Soccer team finished the season with an 11-5-4 record, finishing 2nd in the Big East and qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Drew earned 17 starts in her second season with the Hoyas.
Raven Edwards (F) and the Stony Brook Women’s Soccer team finished the season with a 6-9-3 record. In her third season with the Seawolves, Raven earned First-Team American East All-Conference honors. She started 16 games, finishing second in the conference with 9 goals (4 game-winning) and 2 assists. She was also named American East Player of the Week in early October.
Cara Poole (D) and the Monmouth Women’s Soccer team finished the season with a 13-3-2 record. The Hawks finished the season as MAAC Regular Season Champions. Cara played in 15 games and earned MAAC All-Academic Team in her final season.
Lexi Chang (F/M) and the Lehigh Women’s Soccer team finished the season with a 7-8-3 record. Lexi played in 17 games, earning 9 starts in her second season with the Mountain Hawks. She finished the season with 2 goals and 2 assists.
Kristine Kelly (M/D) and the Central Connecticut State Women’s Soccer team finished the season with an 8-5-4 record. Kristine played in 17 games, earning 6 starts in her third season with the Blue Devils. She finished the season with 1 assist.
Kristy Cotter (D/F) and the Columbia Women’s Soccer team finished the season with a 7-8-1 record. In her freshman season, Kristy played in 14 games with the Lions.
Jenny Haskel (D/M) and the Northwestern Women’s Soccer team finished the season with a 14-6-2 record. Jenny played in 6 games in her freshman season with the Wildcats as they reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998.
Meg Lawlor (D/M) and the Holy Cross Women’s’ Soccer team finished the season with a 5-8-4 record. In her freshman season, Meg played in 14 games, earning 6 starts with the Crusaders.
Alex Gilgorri (F/M) and the NJIT Women’s Soccer team finished the season with a 2-14-0 record. In her freshman season Alex started all 16 games and had 1 assist for the Highlanders.
NCAA Women’s Division III
Eliza Gray (GK) and the Gettysburg Women’s Soccer team finished the season with a 10-2-6 record. In her final season, Eliza was named NSCAA First-Team All-American and the first goalkeeper to be named Centennial Conference Player of the Year. She also earned her fourth-straight All-Centennial Conference selection, First-Team honors for the second consecutive season. Eliza broke Gettysburg single-season records for shutouts (12), goals-against average (0.31) and save percentage (.889). She finishes her career with every school record for goalies, including wins, shutouts, and goals-against average and save percentage. She broke the Centennial Conference records for shutouts and is 2nd in conference history in goalie wins.
Krista Longo (F) and the William Smith Women’s Soccer team finished the season with a 19-1-2 record. The Herons won their 9th straight Liberty League championship and was ranked 3rd in the country heading into the NCAA Tournament. Krista was named NSCAA First-Team All-American, Liberty League Player of the Year and First-Team All-Liberty League in her final season with the Herons. She played in 21 games, earning 19 starts and led the team with 33 points on 14 goals (5 game-winning) and 5 assists. She finishes her career tied for 7th on the William Smith career goals list with 37.
Jill Sudo (F) and the Catholic University Women’s Soccer team finished the season with a 17-3-0 record. The Cardinals won their 2nd consecutive Landmark Conference championship, earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament. In her freshman season, Jill played in 20 games, earning 8 starts and scored 4 goals (2 game-winning) with 2 assists. She was named Landmark Conference Player of the Week in late September.
